About Swanmore Amateur Dramatic Society

In December 1959 SADS (as we are more usually known) put on our first production,“The Master Key”

Fifty years and more than 110 productions later, in the summer of 2009, we marked our 50th Anniversary.

In our 65 years we have been blessed with the friendship of so many talented people, both on stage and off, backstage and at front of house, all necessary for the smooth running and success of our performances.

Our aim is first and foremost to provide enjoyment to our audiences, at a reasonable cost and to the very best of our ability, each and every time we perform.

We are affiliated to the National Operatic & Dramatic Association (NODA), which is our governing body. This organization is an “umbrella” which informs and protects us. We have a regional representative who will attend our productions when available, and who can nominate us for “NODA” awards which are considered to be quite prestigious.

We usually put on two shows each year: a play in May and a pantomime in the first week of December. Occasionally adding a one-off Summer Show.

In order to mix our serious production side with a social element, we organise theatre trips and other “away from production” events for members.
